Helen Joyce (Pruden) Sheckler

       Helen Joyce (Pruden) Sheckler, 88, of Dillsboro passed away peacefully with her favorite cat in her lap, Saturday, February 17, 2024, at her home. Helen was born on Friday, December 6, 1935, in Holly Hill, Florida; daughter of Robert and Mamie (Givens) Pruden. Helen married the love of her life, Tommy Sheckler, on May 14, 1955, who survives her. Helen was a member of the Washington Baptist Church in Elrod and was also a member of the Eastern Star. She was a nursing assistant for Home Health Care provided by Dearborn County Hospital. Helen was a homemaker and dearly loved her family and her cats.

       Helen will be missed by her husband Tommy Sheckler of Dillsboro; children Holly Sheckler of Dillsboro, Tommy (Anita) Sheckler II of Bay City, Michigan, Scott (Julie) Sheckler of Dillsboro, Timothy (Tamara) Sheckler of Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina, and Brenda (Kevin) Sheckler of Dillsboro; and seven grandchildren.

       Helen was preceded in death by her parents Robert and Mamie Pruden and four sisters.

       Private services will be held at a later date by the family. Memorials may be given in honor of Helen to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
